Baxter Family books by Karen Kingsbury

Have any of you read about the Baxter family? Karen Kingsbury has written several series surrounding the lives of the Baxter family. The first series is called the Redemption series. This series contains 5 books called Redemption, Remember, Return, Rejoice, and Reunion. These books introduce you to the characters in the Baxter family and learn what has lead each of them to the place they are now. These books were co-authored by Gary Smalley, the relationship author. Karen Kingsbury, with the help of Gary Smalley, not only introduces the characters, but teaches the reader throughout the books how God heals relationships. From tragedy to poor decisions, they lead you back to a life with Christ through the characters. The reader can take the knowledge of what helped the character return to Christ, and internalize it for themselves in their own situations in life. I found this to be very helpful in my own life in things that I have to deal with.

I would love to go on about the second series, but it would give away information from the first series. So go check it out! Not only will you be hooked like I am, you will also possibly change your life!

Life got away from me!

So shortly after our daughter came home in July, we had a family member and her baby, who is 2 weeks younger than our daughter, move in with us. It is like having twins in our house! Life has since been very hectic as you might imagine! Things are starting to slow down now though and I have been doing a lot of reading lately so please watch for lots more reviews coming very soon. Hoping to get my first review up today! This picture of them was taken in October after a trip to a harvest party at church.

my apologies

I was supposed to post a book review at the end of July, but we have been blessed with a newborn girl through adoption and spent the last week of July and first week of August in another state for her adoption and we are just getting settled back at home and into routine. I will be getting that post up soon so please check back soon!

Leave It to Claire, Claire Series #1

I just finished reading this book for myself, not for the author. I really enjoyed it! Author Tracey Bateman writes real life, things we all think but would never dare say!

Claire is a divorced mother of 4 who has to learn to live again. She is learning what God has for her. She has wonderful insights that we can all relate to including things like what her teenage daughter thinks of her wardrobe, and how to have the willpower to not eat the pizza while trying to loose weight! Claire not only learns to live again, but she also learns to love and respect others in the process.

Set in 1863 during the Civil War, the conflict between the Confederates and Unionists is evident even across the country in the Nevada Territory. A book that explains not only war facts, but the history of the people's relationship with the native tribes.

The main character Jessica's story will capture your heart and mind. Finishing this story was on the four front of my mind during the times I couldn't be reading it. Though a little slow to me in the beginning, the end more than makes up for it! Jessica's tenacity gets her into many scrapes, but her rescuer is always there to help her out!

This book was extra interesting to me as it is set in a territory that I am familiar with in modern times so to hear about it during Civil War times just intrigued me. Also the ranch life was interesting as the area I live in has ranching as a way of life so to read about the way they ranched in the old days was very interesting.
